Keeping Children Safe
At Hope Island Montessori, the safety and wellbeing of each child sits at the centre of every decision we make, and child safety is embedded in to our daily rhythms, in our interactions, and in the way we carefully support each child.
Through creating calm, respectful environment where children feel secure, valued, and confident to grow, they develop the confidence to express themselves, set boundaries, and engage with others in a way that supports their safety and wellbeing. Furthermore, we actively teach children the language and understanding to express their needs, set boundaries, and advocate for themselves, while our team maintains a consistent presence through active supervision and shared responsibility.
We follow best practice in safeguarding procedures and maintain a culture of openness, where children, families, and educators feel safe to speak and know they will be heard.
We ensure that:
-
children are treated with respect and dignity
-
educators are present, attentive, and actively supervising
-
environments are thoughtfully prepared to support safety and independence
-
all staff understand their responsibility to protect children
We support children to:
-
express their thoughts and feelings

-
learn to identify and build confidence in speaking with trusted adults
-
develop independence and self-awareness

This reflects our Montessori approach, where children are supported to participate, communicate, and develop a strong sense of self.
